Look at this beach. Pretty, right? Your eyes just take it in — the sun, the water, the palm tree. But a computer? It doesn't see any of that. So how does this picture even get inside a phone? Let's find out.

Watch this — I'm going to zoom out the way a computer thinks. See how the picture breaks into a checkerboard? Each one of those squares is called a pixel. The whole image is just a giant grid of them, lined up in rows and columns.

Let's zoom way in on one single pixel. See? It's just one solid color — no sun, no sky, just orange. A pixel can only be one color at a time. That's its whole job.

Here's the secret. Every color you've ever seen on a screen is made from three ingredients — red, green, and blue. Try the sliders. Pull red way up, drop the others, and you get pure red. Mix all three and watch what happens.

Now zoom back out. Every single pixel is doing the same thing — just three numbers each. Look at all those numbers floating over the picture. To a computer, this whole beach is one giant list of red, green, and blue values. That's it.

Your turn. Slide this back and forth. With just a few pixels, the beach looks like blocky soup. Crank it up — and details snap into focus. That's resolution: how many pixels we pack in. More pixels means a sharper picture, but also way more numbers to store.

Okay, what about video? Watch the sun wiggle. That's not really moving — it's a stack of still pictures, flipping by really fast. Each picture is called a frame. Show enough frames per second and your brain glues them together into motion.

Try this slider. Drag it low and you can almost count the frames going by — choppy, right? Push it up to twenty-four and the motion smooths right out. That's frame rate, or FPS — frames per second. Movies usually run around twenty-four.

And that's the whole trick. A photo is a grid of pixels. A pixel is three numbers. A video is just photos flipping past. Next time you take a picture, remember — your phone is really just writing down a giant list of numbers.
